C.W. POST CLASS
INVESTIGATIVE RESOURCES IN CONTEMPORARY ART
Art history is relevant to gaining perspective and context. To understand contemporary art we need to have a good understanding of art history. Students can gain a better appreciation and understanding when they are introduced to master artists, and significant art movements. Art is a form of communication and while it is visual in nature much of art is a reaction to social, and economic issues. I chose to take a graduate level art history course so that I could better integrate art history into my curriculum.
This was a two-part course consisting of morning seminars devoted to readings in contemporary art and afternoon field trips to Manhattan.
